What’s Italian For Lolz?

August 30, 2011 § Leave a comment

In LA…

Naomi came up with this game called What’s The American For… where you gave an English word and found the American equivalent. Came in handy when I was spelling my name at the printers getting my Converse pimped:

Cute Tattooed Printer: can I get your name please?

Me: Cozette

CTP: can you spell that..

Me: Sea Oh Zed E Tea

CTP: sorry Sea Oh what?

Me: Sea Oh Zed E Tea… (pause) Sea Oh Zee E Tea

And there you go the American for Zed is Zee.

And the Italian for lolz is a few days in Rimini….

The hotel was themed. Yes that possibly is as bad as it reads. The theme being Fellini although I’m hard-pushed to think of one of his films having a yellow stripe tent as part of the set? Guess I should be thankful that my room wasn’t a giant fountain….

Cat Burglars…..

I left my window open….

She’s a stray who normally sits on my windowsill. Today through feline bravery (should I have put that she was feline brave there? Oh such a bad pun) she decided to have a wander. The last time she did this she then hid somewhere – I thought that she’d just run off again as normal and so locked up and headed off to SIBLING HQ.

That night while falling in and out of sleep I woke up to something on my chest, breathing softly into my face or… maybe Mr King is right: cat’s steal breath.

Ant Sunday.

Joseph Patrick Waldo.

This is the name of the man responsible for ‘defacing’ posters in NY (and possibly LA? An accomplice or a mimic…)

Anyway, 26 year old Joseph or Moustache Man was caught in June and charged with ‘felony criminal mischief’. Now I have no idea what penalties this brings but the fact that you can be charged for causing mischief made me smile: it’s such a naughty-kid word.

I’d like to be caught making mischief.

“At it’s simplest level, it’s a quick joke meant to give commuters something to smile about while they’re waiting for the subway, coming off from a long day at work, or getting stabbed on the D train. And that’s certainly how it started. But for me it’s evolved into part of this broader movement of subverting advertisements. Especially in New York, where we’re bombarded with ads everywhere we go, it feels more and more like we’re part of a one-sided conversation. We’re getting these ridiculous images and dumb catchphrases shoved down our throats (“Good Afternoont!”), why shouldn’t we be able to talk back? So many ads are so laughably stupid that a cartoonish moustache just seems to fit. On another level, it’s a return to hand-written form in a technology driven age where we type so much that some of us have actually forgotten how to write cursive.

Also it’s about war or something.”

Yes Sir….

Last night…

Rebecca’s birthday descended in to a tissue-paper pom pom heaven as the giant decorations were pulled down….

Mood For The Day…

OK…

The last few days have been harsh, perhaps Mood For Tomorrow, it’s a simple brief, let’s put something wonderful out there:

Where Am I?
